useful information
PA++++
PA++++
In the case of professional sun protection based on the latest science, the protection grade of UVA (PA) is specified in addition to the SPF. PA refers to the protective effect against UVA radiation:
PA+ = PPD 2-4, PA++ 4-8, PA+++ 8-16, PA++++ >16 .
PPD
PPD value
The ratio between the smallest dose of UVA radiation that causes a permanent pigment change on protected and unprotected skin is the so-called PPD value. ( Persistent pigment darkening ) Roughly speaking, a PPD 10 means that the skin takes ten times longer to tan.
SPF50
SPF50
If the skin’s own protection time is ten minutes according to the individual skin type and it is covered with sun protection factor 50, it can theoretically be exposed to the sun for 500 minutes before it gets sunburned. That’s about 8.5 hours.
The calculation behind it: 10 minutes of self-protection time x 50 (SPF) = 500. A sufficient layer of cream is a prerequisite for this calculation. If there is too little cream, the protective effect decreases.
