75 Years of Bareiss
In 1951, Hermine Bareiss opened what was then the “Kurhotel Mitteltal” with just 25 beds. In 1973, Hermann Bareiss assumed leadership and developed the property over decades into an internationally renowned 5-star-superior hotel. Today, Hannes and Britta Bareiss continue this legacy in the third generation alongside Hermann Bareiss. This is not an abrupt generational transition, but rather a collaboration built over years from experience, tradition, and new ideas.

Among the “101 Best Hotels in Germany,” the property was recognized as #1 Luxury Culinary Hotel 2026 . In the RELAX GUIDE 2026 it received four lilies and 19 out of 20 points. Hannes Bareiss was named 101 ICON Hotelier of the Year 2026, while Hermann Bareiss was honored with the Brillat-Savarin Plaque 2026 for his life’s work.
