in favor of those who have no lobby, are weak or in need of help.
Sometimes it’s children, sometimes it’s animals, sometimes it’s nature, sometimes it’s a children’s playground and
now it’s the BirdPark Malta!

“The animals cannot understand what happened!”
FOR RICKY. FOR THE ANIMALS. FOR BIRDPARK MALTA.
On June 1, 2026, in the early morning at approximately 6:30 AM, a massive explosion changed the lives of many people and animals in Malta.
Among the victims were numerous animals from BirdPark Malta.
Many birds died instantly from the pressure wave. Others lost their lives when they flew into enclosures and aviaries in a panic. Many young animals and nestlings, which were in the sensitive rearing phase at this time of year, were particularly affected.
The owner, Kevin Mallia, is an extremely friendly, animal-loving, and selfless man.
What moved me personally the most were Kevin’s words:
“The animals cannot understand what happened.”
The animals do not know why their world was suddenly destroyed.
They do not know why familiar places have disappeared.
They do not know why their fellow species are missing.
They do not know why even their keepers, who have always protected them, are suddenly struggling with a situation that no one could have foreseen.
My daughter Marie and I have lived in Malta for five years.
BirdPark Malta is a special place for us.
Our favorite parrot, “Ricky,” was simply part of it for us.
Ricky also did not survive the catastrophe.
Many people are now discussing causes, responsibilities, and opinions.
That is not what this is about.
It is about help.
It is about the animals that are still alive.
It is about food.
It is about medical care.
It is about repairs.
It is about helping a man who has invested his entire life in this park.
Kevin never gave up.
And now we do not want to give up either.
Every euro from this campaign will be passed on entirely to BirdPark Malta.

Thanks to the numerous donations from our customers & friends, we have already been able to hand over 15,000 euros to Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V.

Generators, gasoline, diesel & water
In addition, portable generators as well as petrol, diesel and water tanks were purchased and brought to the regions.
As it was and in some cases still is almost impossible to purchase portable generators in the flood regions (because they are out of stock),
DIY stores were visited in regions not affected by the disaster and
the urgently needed generators were purchased there privately.
On-site help
Not just handing over money, but also helping out! Some of our team members who were in the region didn’t need to be told twice and
actively helped with the clean-up work on site in the Ahr valley.
This was preceded by a call asking for help, as this region can only be reached with huge detours for the foreseeable future,
because bridges and roads simply no longer exist.
